Brent Hammond

Brent Edward Hammond, age 71, of Driggs, Idaho died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at his home.

Brent was born September 4, 1943 in Egin Bench near St. Anthony, Idaho to Francis Marion and Mary Wentland Hammond. He grew up in Egin - St. Anthony area graduating from the South Fremond High School in 1961.

He worked on the family farm before joining the U.S. Army and serving in the Vietnam War from September 13, 1968 to August 25, 1969.

Brent was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He met Mary Ilene Weston at Grand Targhee where he was working as a lift operator, they were married on April 21, 1970. Their marriage was later solemnized on November 5, 1982 in the Idaho Falls temple.

They started their own business "Creations From Nature" where they worked side by side doing masonry work and many other different jobs. His most prominent work would be his beautiful antler chandeliers. He has built award winning chandeliers that are hung in the most prestigious homes throughout the United States even earning their place in a popular magazine.

Brent loved the outdoors. He loved taking his family antler hunting, fishing, camping and to Lake Powell for a week of fun on the water. He was a very loving, caring generous man that will be missed by all who knew him.

Brent is survived by his eternal companion Ilene of 44 years; 2 sons Jason (Michelle) Hammond and Tyler (Lannie) Hammond both from the Darby area of Driggs; 6 grandchildren who he loved very much; a brother Mel Hammond of Alta, Wyoming; 2 sisters: Norma (Ray - deceased) Pfost and Carol (Norman) Drewes all of Idaho Falls and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Stephen and Milton "Bud" Hammond and 3 sisters: Francis Baribault, betty Fullmer and Judy Hammond.

His family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Veteran's Administration and to the local healthcare personnel, EMT and firemen. You are very appreciated.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Driggs Stake Center under the direction of Bishop Wade Treasure. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M. at the Valley Mortuary in Driggs and then from 9:30 - 10:45 prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Pratt Cemetery in Alta, Wyoming.
