Connie Solomon

August 13, 1934 — February 12, 2019

Connie Adele Solomon, 84, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her home in Victor, ID surrounded by her family after her courageous battle with cancer.

Connie was born to Leon and Lucy Stratton of Victor, Idaho. She was raised South of Victor on her family farm. She was the oldest of the four Stratton girls. She loved being a sister and considered them her dearest friends.  She attended school in Teton Valley and graduated in 1952. She was involved in the Teton High School band, where she enjoyed playing the Trumpet, and was in the Glee club and Future Homemakers of America. She had fond memories of working for Teton Valley Hospital and loved to share her memories of working with the newborns.

Connie was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was called to serve an 18-month mission to the Northern States Mission, her favorite area was serving in Chicago. Connie made life long friendships with her companions and people she was able to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to.  As a missionary her testimony grew and was strengthened as she served those around her.

When she returned home from her mission, she moved to Salt Lake where she worked at the Church headquarters in the missionary and the membership department. In 1979 she retired after working in the Salt Lake Temple for 18 years as a recorder.

It was in the Salt Lake Temple that she met her eternal companion Wilford “Solly” Solomon. Connie and Solly were sealed in July of 1979, in the Salt Lake Temple. When Connie and Solly were married Connie became step mom to four loving, grown children and their spouses and loved becoming Grandma Connie. The Newlyweds resided in West Valley, Utah. During their time together they were able to do lots of traveling, including Jamaica, Rome, The Vatican City, Hawaii twice a year, California, Switzerland, and Maine.

Connie and Solly were called to serve in the Hamilton, New Zealand Temple as missionaries in 1980. She loved the flowers and the landscape of New Zealand, being a missionary and serving in the temple.

Connie and Solly moved back to Teton Valley full time in 1999. She loved being in the mountains and watching the change of the seasons. She took great pride in the holly hocks that grew around her house and loved to see them blowing in the summer breeze.  She was always taking care of others, especially her family. She was the primary care giver for both her mother, “Daddy”, and her sister Carol for years.

Connie is preceded in Death by her husband Wilford Solomon, her parents Leon and Lucy Stratton, her sisters Arlene Matern (Ed), Elaine Hill (Robert), and two Grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Carol Stratton of Rexburg, nephew Darin Stratton (Amy) of Victor, niece Debbie Abelin (Phil) of Whitehall, Montana, nephew Jeff Hill (Judy) of Bountiful, Utah, several great nieces and nephews, 4 step children, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren.
