Donald Fred Coburn, age 85, OF Driggs, Idaho died peacefully at his home on December 4, 2009. He was born on October 10, 1924IN Driggs, Idaho, to Fredrick Adrian and Mary Hulet Coburn. He graduated from Preston High School and attended Idaho State University where he received a degree in Pharmacy. On June 5trh, 1946 he married Clarice Mae Carlson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In 1958 Don realized two lifelong dreams by returning to Teton Valley, the place of his birth, and purchasing a local drug store. Coburn Drug, with its home-made ice cream and world famous fresh lime freezes, became a popular gathering placer for the community where Don and Clarice made many lasting friendships. After retiring from retail pharmacy, Don began another career working as a hospital pharmacist. He was happily employed at Teton Valley Hospital until the age of 83. Don was involved in civic affairs, serving on the Driggs City Council. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Bishop and Stake President. Don and Clarice served a mission in the London Temple. After returning home, they continued to serve in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples. Don loved his raspberry patch, a good fishing stream, and BYU Football, but nothing was as close to his heart as family. Survivors include his wife Clarice Mae, Children Kelly (Sally) Coburn of Driggs, Jeanne (Steven) Larsen of North Logan, Richard (Carla) Coburn of Driggs, and Steven (Kristen) Coburn of Driggs, a sister Helen Bohlin of Boise, 25 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Driggs Stake Center. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 - 9 P.M. at the church and then from 9:30 - 10:45 prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Driggs Cemetery under the direction of the Valley Mortuary in Driggs.
