Edgar Lyle Beard, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 9, 2014 at Teton Valley Hospital. Lyle died of a brain hemorrhage that resulted from a fall. A native of Teton Valley, Lyle was born to Lila and Joe Beard in Driggs on Nov. 1, 1931. He attended school in Alta and Driggs. Lyle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the National Guard. Lyle was married to Trixie May Nelson from Darby on October 17, 1954. From that union they were blessed with six children, including Sally Heinz, (Randall, Deceased), Gary (Jeanette) Beard, Danny (Tauni) Beard, Steve Beard, Doug (Regina) Beard, and Joe (Anjeanette) Beard. Lyle and Trixie had 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Lyle had two brothers and two sisters, including Robert Beard (Terri), Billy (Leona) Beard, Gloria (Newel) Kimball and Janie (Buzz) Rasmussen. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lila Beard, his brother, Robert Beard, his son-in-law, Randall W. Heinz, and two grandsons, Jacob and Ernie Beard. Together with his brother and father, Lyle owned and operated Beard's Saw Mill in South Leigh Canyon, located in the morning shadow of Beard's Mountain. Before wheeled tractors, the Beards had used oxen to drag logs to the saw mill. In 1962 Lyle put to work his love and knowledge of horses and the mountains with Beard Outfitters, which still in operation. Together with his brother and his sons, Lyle helped many enjoy hunting and fishing opportunities in Wyoming. Lyle worked at the old Ford Garage in downtown Driggs and put his automotive skills to work for the rest of his life, restoring vintage tractors. On the ground that his father had homesteaded in 1931, Lyle built the house where he and his wife raised their family. Small in stature, Lyle was a big man who lived a full life. Always with a kind word and a twinkle in this eye, Lyle will be missed by all who knew him.
A viewing with be held Sunday October 12th, 2014 at the Tetonia LDS Chapel from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 13th, 2014 a viewing will be held at the same location, from 10:00-10:45, followed by 11:00 a.m. Services.
Interment will be at the Cache Clawson Cemetery
