Elder Kunz

Elder Colt Daniel Kunz, 20, passed away October 9, 2013 in Tampico, Mexico while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was born on August 11, 1993 in Rexburg, ID and was the youngest of ten children born to Ryan and Ranae Hathaway Kunz.

Colt grew up on the family farm in Victor. Riding horses, moving pipe, riding four-wheelers and motorbikes, and working alongside his family were many activities he enjoyed. He became an eagle scout at age 13.

Colt attended Teton High School. As a natural athlete, he participated in all sports including basketball, baseball, track, cross-country and golf. He graduated in 2012 with honors.

Colt studied at BYU-Idaho hoping to one day become a dentist. He was called to the Mexico, Tampico mission where he had many beautiful experiences loving the people and sharing his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Colt was everybody's best friend and had a magnetic personality that made others easily drawn to him. Although his life seemed short, Colt righteously fulfilled his mission here are earth. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Ryan and Ranae Hathaway Kunz; and his siblings, Melissa (Shawn) Clark, Doug (Brittany) Kunz, Marinda (Max) Bartschi, Megan (Greg) Bean, Angelica (Tyler) Overall, Phillip (Melissa) Kunz, Burke (Rachelle) Kunz, Clarissa (deceased) and Brody (Mecayle) Kunz; 27 nieces and nephews; and his grandmother, Bernice Hathaway Powell.

Colt was preceded in death by grandparents, Merle and Maurine Kunz, Phillip Hathaway and Rulon Powell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday October 21, 2013 at the Driggs LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held Sunday October 20, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. at the Driggs LDS Stake Center. Burial will be at the Cedron Cemetery under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot with Valley Mortuary assisting.
