Garren Dustin

March 1, 1937 — August 31, 2016

Garren Wayne Dustin, 79 of Victor, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. He was under the care of his loving family. Garren was born on March, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Van Orin and Lillian Kunz Dustin. He grew up on his families’ ranch in Victor. He attended grade school in Victor and graduated from Teton High School. His favorite class was Voc-Ag where his favorite subject was Shop. He was a 4 year member of FFA.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Garren served on the National Gaurd board #41 in Driggs, Idaho and then joined the 101st Airborne in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and graduated the 101st Airborne Division Jump School and received his paratrooper wings. He was Honorably discharged on February 12, 1962.

He married Karen Ard of Rexburg. From that marriage his eldest daughter Kacy Lynn was born. He Married Janice Peters Sweet in May 1981. They had a daughter Deniece and they made their home in Victor.

Garren Worked for the Forrest Service. Upon leaving the the Forrest Service he went to work for Clarks Ready Mix  and later he went to work for  Evans Construction until he retired.

He was a country boy who loved the outdoors, he could be found there when ha wasn't working. He loved to take his snow plane ice fishing on Jackson Lake. In the summer he used his boat out on the lake. In between he spent time hunting and fly fishing on the Teton River.

He liked to take the old Jeep into the mountains to hunt wildlife and to pick huckleberries with his family. He especially loved to go into the mountains in the fall, it was his favorite time of year.

Garren loved to spend time with Jan, Deniece and his grandchildren, Justyne, Sky, and Cody. They were the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife Jan, of Victor; Daughters Kacy of Seattle, Washington and Deniece (Greg) Sutton of Driggs, Idaho; Grandson Cody and Granddaughters Justyne and Sky; Sisters Marlene Hansen of Gilbert, Arizona, Debbie Thornton of Greenville, Texas and Brenda (Bob) Young of Meridian, Idaho; Brother Vearl (Laura) Dustin of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Myles and Arvin and sister Neta Driggs.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Victor Cemetery in Victor, Idaho. Bishop Val Kunz will be officiating.
