Geneva Matkin

May 26, 1925 — April 11, 2011

Geneva Leota Woolstenhulme Matkin, 85, of Victor passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, in Salt Lake City.

Geneva was born May 26, 1925 in Victor to Vanna Vera Cover and George Stephen Woolstenhulme. She was the second of ten children and recently told her grandchildren that "we were a very close family and stuck together in everything." Geneva grew up in Victor and graduated from Teton High School. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life and eternal companion, Lloyd "Bill" Henry Matkin. They were married on September 22, 1945 in Logan, Utah and later in life were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with four children, Stephen, Bonnie, Carolyn, and Gary.

Geneva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and loved to read. She worked much of her adult life in the restaurant business, Roger Brothers Processing Plant, and in the hospital in Idaho Falls. She always found the time to serve her family. Her children and grandchildren still enjoy afghans and quilts that "Grandma" made.

Survivers include children, Steve (Joy) Matkin of Victor, Bonnie (Cliff) Shelton of Riverton, Utah, 6 grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Teanie Fuell, Mary Walker, Verda Stuart, and brothers George, Bill, and Elmo. She was preceded in death by her husband; children Carolyn and Gary; siblings Vera, Dollie, and Doug, as well as her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, at the Victor LDS Church. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14th at Valley Mortuary in Driggs, and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at the church prior to services. Interment-Victor Cemetery.
