Gerald Hansen

Gerald Roy Hansen, 80, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at his home in Tetonia, Idaho. Gerald was born July 3, 1934 in Clawson, Idaho to William LeRoy Hansen and Wanda Valarie Fullmer Hansen. He grew up and lived in the Teton Valley area known as Clawson. Gerald attended elementary school in Tetonia, Idaho and High School in Driggs, Idaho. He worked on the family farm before joining the army and serving in the Korean War from November 25, 1953 to September 22, 1955. Gerald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He married Norma Weston on May 24, 1957. Their marriage was later sealed for eternity on October 14, 1983 in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. Gerald loved the outdoors. He worked various jobs throughout his life. Gerald and Norma moved to Jackson, Wyoming, in 1966 where they started their own business called “Hansen’s Paint & Glass”. In 1973 Gerald moved his family back to his roots in Clawson to take over the family farm, where he continued to work and raise his family. He and Norma owned and operated the Phillips 66 service station, Mary’s Floral, and Video Magic & Papa G’s Pizza all located in Driggs, Idaho. Gerald is survived by his eternal companion Norma, of 57 years. One son, Bruce (Cindy) Hansen of Rexburg, Idaho. Three daughters, Valerie (James) Dewey of Victor, Idaho. Mary Ann (Steve) Ard of Vancouver, Washington. Kristine (Cameron) Kay of Spring Creek, Nevada. 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. He loved those grandkids! Also survived by his siblings, four brothers DeWayne “Dutch” (Lola-deceased) Hansen of Rigby, Idaho. Lyle (Gloria-deceased) Hansen of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dell Ray (Sharon) Hansen of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Keith (Leanne-deceased)(Carol-deceased) Hansen of Mesquite, Nevada. One sister Peggy Bird of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM in the Tetonia, Idaho LDS chapel with Bishop Brent Robson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service. Family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 14th at the Valley Mortuary in Driggs, Idaho. Burial will be at the Alta Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 95. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Teton Valley Hospital, along with Sue Beard and staff of Hands of Hope Hospice of Idaho Falls.
