Jay Butler

Jay Dell Butler (1923-2012) peacefully passed away surrounded by his children on October 12, 2012 in Owasso, Oklahoma. Jay Dell was born in Clawson, Teton Valley, Idaho on July 6, 1923. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was wounded in Europe in 1945. Following his return from the war, He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada from 1947 to 1949. He married Hazel Carlson on January 17, 1952 in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jay Dell's business career included farming, storekeeping, meat cutting, surveying, and working as custodian at the Driggs LDS Stake Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel in 2007. He is survived by his five children: Allison Blake of Owasso, Oklahoma; Jay Lane Butler of Clinton, Tennessee; Charlene Butler of Orem, Utah; Alicia Jensen of Calimesa, California; and Katie Jo Dewey of Leesburg, Virginia. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Driggs, Idaho LDS Stake Center, Friday, October 19th at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held at the Valley Mortuary in Driggs, Idaho from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, October 18, 2012 and again Friday Morning October 19th and the LDS Stake Center in Driggs from 9:00 - 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Driggs Cemetery.
