John Sweatt

November 25, 1944 — July 18, 2016

John L. Sweatt, was born on November 25, 1944 and passed away on July 18, 2016 after a 16 year battle with cancer. He leaves behind 2 brothers, Michael and Thomas Sweatt and a sister, Melody Chassang. His four children, Michele Dennis (LeRoy), Kimberly Foster (Greg), Christine Frank (Fredric) and son Michael Sweatt (Ali). Three step children, Mike, Matt and Cody Schneider. As well as 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerri Sweatt, mother, Katherine Sweatt, his father, Jack Blackard, adoptive father, Ralph Sweatt and brother, Walter "Butch" Sweatt. John joined the Navy shortly after finishing high school. In 1965 he met his first wife, Diane Pierce (Sweatt), and her two young daughters, Michelle (4) and Kimberly (3). In 1968 they added a new baby girl, Christine, to the family. They now had three girls and were finally blessed with a baby boy, (Michael) in March 1972. Their family was complete. John became a professional bass fisherman and a skilled sheet metal worker. He moved his family to Jackson, Wyoming in 1974 from Jupiter, Fl. He was an avid and passionate hunter and fisherman. Never one for sitting still John was happiest when fishing. No matter the temperature or time of year, if he wasn't home or at church, he was fishing. His services will be at the LDS church in Victor on Saturday, July 30 at 11 AM.
