Joseph Bagley

November 8, 1922 — April 4, 2009

Joseph Wendell Bagley, age 86 of Victor, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 in Rigby.

He was born November 8, 1922 in Victor, Idaho to George Parley Bagley and Heda Johnson Bagley. He grew up working on the family farm and attending school in Victor, graduating in 1941 before attending Ricks College.

On September 28, 1949 he married Chloe Hansen of Tetonia in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home on a farm in Victor where they raised seven children: JoDeane Strong-Ricks, Gaylen Bagley, Adele Johnson, Janet Swanson, Christa Child, Christie Nethercott, and Bruce Bagley. Throughout the years their home was also open to family, friends, and farm help who were always made to feel welcome whether visiting for the afternoon or the summer.

Wendell was an active member of the LDS Church serving in the YMMIA, Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, church choir and as a home teacher for many years. He loved his family and enjoyed having them visit in summer for backyard picnics and in winter for horse drawn sleigh rides.

Over the years he always had a faithful dog that he taught to do tricks and was his companion as they worked together around the farm. Since his youth Wendell has loved music and dancing, even at the age of 86 he was ready to dance a two-step in the living room when the music was right.

He is survived by his brother Verl Bagley, sister Ruby Kunz, six children, 56 grandchildren, and 71 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Chloe, daughter Janet Swanson, two grandchildren, and sister Ruth Kearsley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Victor LDS Church. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to the services at the church in Victor. Interment will be in the Victor Cemetery.
