Kyle Tonks

With heavy hearts and yet eternal optimism, we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend Kyle L Tonks.  Kyle was born April 4th, 1945 in Rexburg, ID.  He returned to his heavenly home on April 24th, 2021 after a long, courageous battle with health issues, passing at his home in Victor, ID.

Kyle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in various callings throughout his life.  He especially took pride in the ward families he was assigned to watch over and never let a month slip by without reaching out to them.

He loved Teton Valley and never strayed far from his home in Victor.  His greatest outdoor passion was a deep love for fishing, especially on an ice-covered lake.  Next to his bud Stewie, no one ever caught more fish on Jackson Lake (disclaimer: this may be a fish story).  He labored hard and provided for his family working at different jobs throughout his life.  His work skills were many; a mechanic, heavy equipment operator and a lineman to name a few.

He is survived by his dear wife of 55 years, Cheryl Stewart Tonks, his children Kip (Nicole) Tonks, Tammy (Steve) Hammond, Nick (Tracy) Tonks, a sister Janice Krahn, two surviving triplet brothers Kent Tonks and Keith Tonks, brothers Gary Tonks and Chris Tonks, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Laura Tonks, his spouses’ parents, Earl and Doris Stewart, and brothers-in-law Craig and Bill Stewart.

Funeral services will be held at the Victor LDS chapel on May 1st at 11am.  Visitations will be held the evening prior from 6:30 to 8pm as well as from 10:00 to 10:45am the day of the service.
