Marion "Bud" Elliott 87, passed away at his home in Tetonia, ID on Saturday, September 22, 2018. His beloved wife , Betty was by his side.
Bud was born in Cleveland, OH on July 25, 1931 to Marion Bellfield Elliott Sr. and Anne Ebinger Elliott. When he was 11 years old his family moved to Schenectady, NY where he graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. He then attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA and graduated in 1953 with a BSME degree in Mechanical Engineering. A marriage to Janet Jackson ended in divorce.
Bud served 2 years in the U.S. Air Force in Germany and upon his return to Schenectady he was employed by General Electric Company. He worked there 40 years, retiring as a Senior Project Engineer in 1990. His projects include trips to China, Korea and other areas in the Far East.
In 1983 bud married Elizabeth (Betty) Nickerson. They had no children. Together they Built a home in Tetonia in the hills overlooking the Teton Range and moved there in 1991.
Bud enjoyed being active in the community, which included the Land Trust, the Farm Bureau(as a city boy he decided h had better know more about ht e farming community he had moved to). He was an enthusiastic member of the Grand Targhee Ski Patrol for 20 years and was a founding member of the Church in the Tetons, a Presbyterian Church in Driggs,ID.
Sailing, skiing, mountain climbing and hiking were the outdoor activities Bud enjoyed. He continued to be active until his death.He was known for his lively sense of humor, enjoyed a good story and had many friends. He was much loved.
His parent and sisters, Anita Belle Benson Evans and Susan Forrest preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Betty, his sister Virginia Leadly of Maryland and 10 nieces and nephews who greatly admired him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m. at the St Francis of the Tetons in Alta, WY
