Rusty Harpe passed away on April 14th at the age of 45, leaving behind a legacy of grit, love, laughter, and horsepower. A proud native of Tennessee who made Teton Valley his home for over a decade, Rusty was a larger-than-life character—equal parts hard-working and hilarious—who lit up every room he walked into and every job site he ever touched.
Rusty’s greatest joy and most enduring passion was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Chelsi, his sons Colt and Wesson, and his daughter Kimber. Whether he was bragging about Colt’s athletic prowess, twirling Kimber at the father-daughter dance, or riding shotgun with Wesson—who shared his dad’s love of machines and trucks—Rusty wore the title of “Dad” with unmistakable pride.
If you’ve lived in the Valley long enough, chances are Rusty has left his mark—both literally and figuratively. He dug miles of fiber, set countless foundations, installed water lines and septic tanks, and plowed roads and driveways for folks all across the community. His work ethic was unmatched, his standards were high, and his commitment to doing things right was unwavering.
Though he ran in a small circle, Rusty loved his people fiercely. He leaves behind his best friend Bayley Genereux, whom he called brother, and countless memories made in the backcountry with his horse-riding companion Shifty. Rusty packed more life into 45 years than most could in a century—he lived fast, worked hard, and loved deeply.
Rusty is also survived by his wife Chelsi and their kids Colt, Kimber and Wesson; his Twins Zane and Zander; father, Gary( Kim) Harpe his Sisters Brittany and Chelsea Harpe. While the loss is immense, the legacy Rusty leaves behind is even greater. He will be remembered not only for what he built, but for how he made others feel—welcomed, valued, and always entertained.
The Valley didn’t just lose a resident—it lost a cornerstone. Rusty Harpe will be missed beyond measure. There will be a celebration of life at 274 Business Centre Cir Driggs, Id on April 25th 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
