Shirley Rubetta (Benson) Jensen, born April 6, 1950, in Summerdale, Alabama, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 75 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, following complications after a stroke.
Shirley was a devoted wife, travel companion, and best friend of Theron Lynn Jensen (Terry). They were married on September 3, 1966, in Pensacola, Florida, and shared nearly six decades of love, partnership, and resilience. Together, they raised three sons: Jerry Lynn (Tami) Jensen, Martin Oleen (La Rae) Jensen, and Nicholas Owen (Kassie) Jensen.
Shirley found comfort and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved being outdoors, where she felt most at peace, she enjoyed travel, camping, skiing, and bowling. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and stain glass work, creating pieces that carried her warmth and care. Her creations are forever standing as a testament to her devotion and dedication.
Beyond her family, Shirley was a steady and compassionate presence to many. She touched countless lives with her kindness and was especially meaningful to those who sought her guidance and companionship, including Maddison Williams. Her gentle strength, open heart, and steadfast support will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Irl Issac Benson; her mother, Elzetter Malone; and her older brother, Thomas Clifford Benson.
In addition to her beloved husband, sons, and daughters-in-law, Shirley is survived by her sister, Florence Earline Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley considered one of her greatest callings to be being a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Luke, Zachary, step-granddaughter Kate Pool; Collin, Nadia, Logan, Analeigh, Georgiana, Lydia; Kinsley, Makai, Isaiah, and Gavin; and great-grandson Hudson. They brought her immense joy; she cherished each one deeply.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet generosity. Her memory will continue to live on in the lives of her family, her friends, and all whose hearts she graced throughout her life.
