Sylvia Yvonne Wood (August 26, 1926- October 16, 2009)

Sylvia Yvonne Wood, 83, a life long resident of Teton Valley, passed away peacefully Friday, October 16, 2009 at Teton Valley Hospital due to natural causes. Sylvia was born in Cedron, Idaho on August 26, 1926 to Jacob and Polly Zohner. She was their 5th child and their 2nd daughter. She graduated from Teton High School in 1944. She spent most of her life in Teton Valley. Sylvia married her soul mate, Dwight Wood on July 30, 1947. They had 9 children together and were married for 47 years before Dwight passed away on September 16, 1994. Sylvia is survived by her 10 children: Patricia Foster of Santa Quinn, Utah; Eddie (Darlene) Wood of Rigby, Idaho; Michael Wood of Driggs, Idaho; Richard Wood of Driggs, Idaho; Jim (Debbie) Wood of Rigby, Idaho; Yvonne Wood of Bancroft, Idaho, Jack Wood of Driggs, Idaho, Barry (Kelly) Wood of Driggs, Idaho, Scott (JR) Wood of Driggs, Idaho; Jared (Cori) Wood of Tetonia, Idaho; Sister Phyllis Kaufman of Alta, Wyoming; Brother LaVar (Shirley) Zohner of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brother Dorin (Martha) of Maine; Brother Daryl (Bonnie) Zohner of Driggs, Idaho; Brother Gary (Sherry) Zohner of Victor, Idaho; 37 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight, brothers Dan, Mark, Archie, and Lewis Zohner, Infant sister Vonnie Gladys Zohner, Parents Jacob and Polly Zohner, grandsons Douglas Foster and Nathaniel Wood, granddaughter Sheena Wood, and a great granddaughter, Taylor Ringel. Sylvia enjoyed being with her family, the great outdoors, and riding horses. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Valley Mortuary in Driggs. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Teton Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
