Wallace Troy Butler, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on March 11, 2013, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Troy was born December, 1, 1920 in Clawson, Idaho to Ethel Eliza Jackson and Marion Wallace Butler. He grew up in Teton Valley, working closely with his family on the family farm. Troy graduated from Teton High School and later attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. While attending Ricks College, Troy met Edith Barfuss of Bancroft, Idaho. After serving a mission in the Western States they were married on May 17, 1944 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They resided in Teton Valley, farming in the Clawson area. Four Children were born to Troy and Edith, DeAnn, Pauline, Lynette and Elwin. After their family was raised, Troy and Edith served a mission in Hartford Connecticut. Edith passed away on April, 29, 1990. On June 17, 1992, Troy married Marian Heileson Durtschi. Together, Troy and Marian served missions in Argentina, South America, South and North, Mexico, Texas and a humanitarian mission in Idaho. At an early age, Troy developed a love for music and was remarkably talented with his voice. Throughout his life he performed at more than a thousand funerals, weddings, and numerous other occasions. Troy was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities including, bishop twice. All those that knew Troy, felt his kindness, love and positive attitude. He was a man without guile. He was an example of returning good for bad. Those who met him, left inspired to be better people. His life and example will be missed by all. Troy was preceded in death by his wife Edith, his parents Marion Wallace and Ethel Butler, sisters, Cloris Benson, Zelta Butler, Lora Tovey, Bernell Butler, and one brother, JayDell. Troy is survived by his wife Marian, sisters, Myra Balls, Norine Allen, children DeAnn, Pauline (Kent) Bagley, Lynette (Robert) Duersch, Elwin (Valerie) Butler, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and his many Durtschi children and grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Friday, March 15, 2013, 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Driggs Idaho Stake center. The funeral will be Saturday March 16, 2013, 11:00 AM at the same location.
